Church Fields, Block E
A stair core scanned, traced and fitted with architectural balustrades — steel aligned to the concrete as it was actually poured.

Concrete never gets poured exactly as drawn. At Church Fields Block E, the stair core was point-cloud scanned at high accuracy specifically to capture those deviations — then reconstructed digitally in Tekla as the true geometry for the balustrade detailing.
The steel had to follow irregular concrete profiles while keeping the balustrade lines consistent across multiple levels, so fixings, tolerances and installation sequencing were all coordinated against the scan rather than the design intent drawings.
The result is the quiet kind of success: architectural metalwork that arrived on site and fitted the structure that actually exists.
Outcome
Balustrades that fitted the as-built concrete first time — construction tolerances absorbed in the model, not on the stair.
