A new pedestrian bridge detailed from engineering design to fabrication-ready model — every member, parapet and interface coordinated before manufacture.
Newcastle 2A is a new-build pedestrian bridge in a public park — and bridges are unforgiving of detailing error: the geometry, member interfaces and parapets all have to land exactly as the engineering design intends.
OD3 developed the full 3D steel model from the engineering information provided, coordinating primary and secondary elements and producing the fabrication and erection drawings for every component.
Close coordination between detailer, engineer and fabricator kept the package practical to manufacture and efficient to erect — coordination resolved in the model, not at the abutments.
Outcome
A fabrication-ready bridge package whose geometry, members and interfaces aligned first time — supporting efficient off-site manufacture and installation.
